Experience Traditional Coffee Making From the Source
Step into the authentic world of coffee the way it has been made for generations. Our Coffee Making Activity invites you to discover the traditional process—starting right from the coffee plants on the farm. You’ll join us in collecting ripe coffee cherries, learning how farmers identify the perfect ones by color, firmness, and aroma. From there, you’ll help spread the beans under the warm sun, a natural drying method that preserves their flavor and keeps the process sustainable. This hands-on experience connects you with the roots of Rwandan coffee culture, offering a peaceful, meaningful moment in nature as you learn how the journey truly begins.
Roast, Grind, and Enjoy Your Fresh Cup
Once the beans are dried, you’ll take part in the traditional roasting process—using fire, manual tools, and the techniques passed down through generations. Listen to the beans crackle, feel the warmth of the roast, and breathe in the rich aroma as the beans transform. You’ll then grind the roasted beans by hand, just as it has been done in traditional households. Finally, you’ll help prepare a cup of freshly brewed coffee using local methods that highlight the natural flavors created by your hard work. It’s an intimate, rewarding experience that lets you taste coffee at its purest—made by you, from start to finish.
